Queen Mother

by Diane Hopkins on May 13, 2012

My friend Katrina showed up at church today wearing a beautiful diamond studded crown.  She has courage!  Turns out her husband gave it to her on her first Mother’s Day and it has become an annual tradition. Her 6 boys won’t forget and she can’t get out of the house on Mother’s Day without it on her head.

What a sweet message!  Queen Mother. Just as it should be.  Honor and a crown for the one who loves so much and serves so constantly.

Sharing this to make you smile . . .

I love this! I love how we are intuitively called to honor our Mother…and how it pleases her children when others give her the respect due to her. Nothing can make a child happier.
It also struck me how if we honor our earthly Mothers then how much more should we honor our Heavenly mother! And how it pleases Our Lord to have His Mother loved ! ♥

Sometimes there is need for a change. Change is what life is made of, and I congratulate you for regularly re-evaluating! That last child at home can be so wonderful to homeschool, but you are right when you consider her being lonely. Age 11 is a time when social development is important, and getting her involved with friends is vital. Of course, having mom for a best friend is great! But she is getting to the age when she needs to learn how to handle herself with people of all types out in the big world. If you can find opportunities for her to hang out with friends a couple of times a week, via classes, a homeschool co-op group, lessons, play dates, Girl's Club (of your making), sewing class, or whatever you can invent to import friends, then homeschooling can work fine. I homeschooled my daughter Louisa alone, and we had a great time and did so much! But we did have the regular social contact that she looked forward to. If you have a good church school, it might be the right time to explore your options. Listen to the feelings of your heart. Best success!

just needing a little encouragement. I'm a fifty year old home school mom. My baby is eleven. we've homeschooled her since she was born
:) lately I'm a little tired. She is the only child at home. wondering if homeschooling is still best for her. I know she is lonely and I feel sometimes like I'm not into it as I need to be to make it interesting for her. Have considered A private church school. Will i get past this slump?
Should I press on or is there a time for change?

I wish my husband had thought of that! I'll just have to share it with my boys and sons in law so they can start the tradition someday. Thanks for sharing! :)
