My daughter Louisa is my sugar-free buddy. And now that it is summer, we are wishing, wishing for ice cream. So Louisa has been creatively whipping up milkshakes. Here’s her latest, and most delicious, sugar-free milkshake so far! It is so delicious that I just had to write and tell you about it!
Louisa’s No-Sugar Strawberry Chocolate Milkshake
2 cups raw milk
Approx. 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries (one 16 oz. container, washed, stems removed and frozen)
1 heaping tablespoon Chocolate Stevita Delight (pure chocolate + stevia) OR 2 level tablespoons cocoa powder and a dropperful of liquid clear stevia
Put milk and chocolate stevia or cocoa powder plus stevia in the blender, mixing well. Add frozen strawberries and blend. Add more strawberries (or ice cubes) until the milkshake is the right thickness.
This is very delicious and healthy way to satisfy your desire for ice cream!

That looks yummy indeed. We don't use sugar but fructose for milkshakes.
I just found your blog. It is impressing to read about 25 years of homeschooling. May I ask you your best advice for Grade 4?
What do you think is the most important ingredient for Grade 4 (age 8-9)? Many thanks in advance from Paula (Belgium).
You can use frozen bananas instead of ice. I use almond milk for liquid too.
If you ever come up with a recipe for homemade ice cream using stevia, please post it!! I love your blog and have learned much from you.

Delicious! Just made it last night and it was a hit.
Thanks for sharing!
I wanted to say thank-you for your encouragement in learning to live without sugar. I found stevia a few years ago and love it. For chocolate chip cookies, my daughter and I figured out this recipe to replace sugar. Instead of the 1 1/2 cups of sugar, use 1 1/2 teaspoons of powdered stevia and 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened applesauce. It is an absolute hit at our house. If you really want to be adventurous, instead of applesauce, use shredded broccoli or zucchini. Then, the kids get their veggies too. These recipes have been kid tested and approved! (In fact my 9 year old sweet tooth boy asked for me to make more broccoli chocolate chip cookies!) God bless your efforts in living a healthier life style!
Your milkshakes look delicious- I will have to try them!
We make homemade sugar free ice cream several times a week. I thought you might like the recipe.
8 cups raw cream
6 raw egg yolks (don't use white raw-they have digestive inhibitors or something like that)
1 Tbsp stevita (a brand of stevia that mixes into liquids pretty well)
That is the basic recipe. You may add vanilla extract, peppermint extract and grated carob, replace the stevita with chocolate stevita, etc… We love to use chocolate stevita and add a few drops of almond extract. Or blend up frozen berries and add. Freeze following the directions for your ice cream maker.
You can replace some cream with milk, but it will taste less creamy, and if there are any leftovers, they freeze rock hard solid. Plus, all that good, raw cream is so good for you!
